What you’re buyingThe plain facts: how Zuno works, where it shines and where it doesn’t.
Zuno is a live page that one person or many work on at once: they type, draw on a shared whiteboard, talk over a walkie-talkie and share their screens, a lot like WhatsApp, Signal, Xbox Live, Discord, Zoom or Microsoft Teams. The difference: what comes out of the meeting, the words, the files, the context, stays in a zuno you control. Every keystroke is merged on our server and shown to everyone else in the zuno as it happens, with each person’s cursor in their own color. Underneath it’s plain Markdown, so your zunos are readable anywhere and come with you whenever you leave.
Where it shines
- Real co-editing. Everyone types at once, anywhere in the zuno, and every keystroke merges. Live cursors, selections and pointers in each person’s color, and follow mode to ride along with someone.
- Talk, draw and show, right there. A whiteboard that opens for everyone at once, a walkie-talkie (hold to talk, double-tap to keep it on), and screen sharing with a tap on someone’s face. No call to set up, no other app.
- It organizes itself. Hashtags in a title sort your zunos into groups inside groups, with no folders to keep. Search finds any word in any of your zunos.
- Undo that’s yours. Ctrl+Z undoes your own edits, even when someone else typed in between.
- Plain Markdown, in and out. No lock-in: export any zuno as a .md file with its images inside, and open it in any editor.
- Files that belong in zunos. Paste or drag images, documents, audio and video. Audio and video play right in the zuno, and every attachment shows its SHA-256 checksum.
- Versions. Edits save as you type. Save a named version with Ctrl+S and restore any of them later.
- Any device. Works in any current browser and installs like an app on phones and computers. Notifications reach you with the tab closed, and never for your own edits.
- No ads, no trackers. We don’t sell data or show ads. The only cookies are the ones that keep you signed in. We count visits ourselves, roughly by place, and share that with no one.
Where it doesn’t (yet)
- Markdown, not a word processor. No fonts, colors, page layouts or comment threads. If you need a styled document, this isn’t it.
- Not end-to-end encrypted. Zunos are encrypted in transit and at rest, but our server works with the plain text to merge everyone’s edits and hand the zuno to the people you share it with. For secrets, encrypt them yourself before you paste.
- Online first. Brief dropouts are fine: keep typing and it syncs when you’re back. But opening zunos and working together need a connection, and there’s no offline mode.
- No single sign-on (yet). Teams get one bill and a members list, but everyone signs in with their own account. Sharing is per zuno, by link; there are no shared team folders.
- Hosted in the United States. If your data must stay in another region, Zuno can’t do that today.
- People per zuno. Up to 5 people at once in a zuno on Free, 50 on the paid plans.
Under the hood
- Live editing
- Operational transformation over a live connection, the technique behind Google Docs. There’s one source of truth, and nobody waits for a lock.
- In transit
- HTTPS only: TLS 1.2 and 1.3, with HSTS. File storage refuses anything older.
- At rest
- Zunos, files and backups are encrypted with AES-256 on Amazon Web Services.
- Files
- Uploaded straight from your browser to Amazon S3. Storage checks each file against its SHA-256 fingerprint before accepting it.
- Sign-in
- Auth0, by Okta. Passwords and sign-in with Google and other accounts are handled there; your password never reaches us.
- Payments
- Stripe Checkout. Your card details go to Stripe and never touch our servers.
- Safety net
- Nightly backups, kept for 7 days. Support can recover a deleted zuno for 7 days.
- Your data
- Plain Markdown. Export any zuno at any time, and delete your account yourself from Account.

Questions
Which plan do I need?
They differ only in room: every plan has every feature. Starter has 100 GB, Core has 500 GB, Pro has 2 TB. Start with the space you use now; moving up later takes a click, and you only pay the difference for the rest of the period.
Monthly or yearly?
The same plans either way. Yearly costs up to 24% less (Starter is $29 a year instead of $35.88). You can switch between them any time in Account.
Is this instead of Google One or iCloud+?
It doesn’t have to be. Those are great for phone backups and photo libraries. Zuno is for the things you write and plan with other people, with the photos, files and video for them right in the zuno. Here’s how they compare.
I chose my own price for Pro before. What happens?
Nothing changes: you keep the price you chose and the Pro you have (now called Pro Classic) for as long as you like. If you’d rather have one of the new plans, switch any time from Account (Pro Classic isn’t offered any more, so that move is one way).
Can people without an account edit my zunos?
If you share a zuno with “anyone with the link”, yes: they join as guests, with their own cursor. You can switch any zuno to view-only, or to just you, at any time, and everyone else is disconnected straight away.
What happens if I cancel, or move down?
You keep your plan until the end of the period you’ve paid for, then your account moves to Free (or the smaller plan). Nothing is deleted. If you have more zunos or files than the new plan allows, they all stay, but you can’t add more until you’re under its limits.
How do Team seats work?
You pay for a number of seats, from 3. Each person who joins with your team’s invite link takes one and gets Core. Add seats any time and pay the difference for the rest of the period; remove them and the difference comes off your next bill. When someone leaves, an admin chooses whether their zunos stay with the team or go with them.
Is my payment information safe?
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never touch our servers.
Can I get my zunos out?
Always. Every zuno exports to a self-contained Markdown file, with its images included.
